My wife and I recently
came back from a 2-week vacation to Alaska (we were there in mid-July)
through an Anchorage-based company called All Alaska Tours. One
of the trips they booked for us was a one day mountain bike trip
to Eklutna Lake. We were with a guide named Andy, I think. I wanted
to let you know how much we enjoyed the trip, and how helpful Andy
was. First of all, the trip was perfect for novice mountain bikers
who just want to loosen up their legs a little and to see some great
scenery. I don't know how you could design a better ride for novice
riders.
Andy was also great. My wife was a little
tentative at first, but he was constantly reassuring her and giving
her tips. We were both very comfortable throughout the day with
Andy, and we both felt more confident on our bikes thanks to his
instruction. His detailed knowledge of the area was a great added
bonus. His knowledge of the area (wildlife, impact of landslides,
general environmental info, etc) really added a lot to the ride.
He could not possibly have tried harder to make it fun for us. He
is a real asset to your business.
I'm sure you always hear complaints when
things don't go so well, but you probably don't always hear when
people have a good time. I don't know when we'll be getting back
to Anchorage, but if we ever do, I hope to ride with you again.
Maybe Johnson Pass trail next time.
